It is highly recommended by doctors and naturopaths that every individual should understand his or her body well and to that extent what will the body accept and what will it reject. It is very important to know this information but there is so much confusion and misinformation on what, how and where can these test be performed and how reliable are the results. In this article we will focus on understanding what the different types are and what benefits do they provide by testing them.
What is an Allergy ? “Allos” means other or foreign and “Ergon” means reactivity. The definition according to American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology describes ” An allergy is a chronic condition involving an abnormal reaction to an ordinarily harmless substance called an allergen.”
The allergy tests are of 2 types – Food Allergies and Food Intolerance. The below table provides the key differences between the two.
